FATIH AND HAGIA SOPHIA
The Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Hagia Sophia Studies Center is a center within Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University. Although its primary research focus is the period of Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Hagia Sophia, any topic related to Ottoman history falls within the scope of this center. In this context, the center aims to study Fatih Sultan Mehmet and his era scientifically from political, military, economic, cultural, and social perspectives, and to conduct studies on Hagia Sophia in fields such as science, art, history, and architecture from past to present. Additionally, the center’s objectives include evaluating scientific studies on the period’s history at national and international levels, monitoring developments, organizing congresses, seminars, panels, and conferences, as well as developing and implementing joint projects.
In line with these objectives, the center’s activities include:

Conducting national and international research, academic meetings, and publications on Fatih Sultan Mehmet, his period, and Hagia Sophia to present the subject with scientific data and produce recommendations for resolving issues;

Collecting studies such as books, theses, articles, and similar works conducted domestically and abroad on Fatih Sultan Mehmet, his period, and Hagia Sophia to create an archive-library;

Promoting research and cultural heritage values related to Fatih Sultan Mehmet, his period, and Hagia Sophia nationally and internationally, organizing periodic national and international symposiums, cooperating with centers, universities, and institutes with similar goals both within Turkey and abroad, organizing scientific meetings, congresses, seminars, and panels, and developing and managing joint projects;

Encouraging individuals or groups involved in center activities to publish scientific articles and books on the subject in national and international peer-reviewed or non-peer-reviewed journals, initiating a series of research publications at the center to systematically prepare scientific studies for publication;

Collaborating with domestic and foreign institutions and organizations engaged in research and practices related to Fatih Sultan Mehmet, his period, and Hagia Sophia, as well as national or international research, examination, education centers, institutes, and similar institutions abroad;

Establishing temporary or permanent commissions and working groups when necessary to carry out research, studies, projects, and similar work in the field of research and practices related to Fatih Sultan Mehmet, his period, and Hagia Sophia.
